HONDA CONTEST

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED! On Sept. 12, 2013, Honda announced that the Cherry Bowl Drive-In was a WINNER! We will be receiving a new digital projection system which will allow us to continue to provide entertainment and fun to families in Northern Michigan.

Honda has launched Project Drive-In, a month-long effort to raise awareness of the wonderful, fragile state of drive-ins today. Honda will effectively rescue five drive-ins from oblivion, paying for new digital projection equipment which costs between $60,000 and $80,000 installed. Voters will pick which drive-ins get saved! Vote once per day online and once per day via text to support your favorite drive-in.

According to Jessica Fini of Honda Public Relations, visitors to Project Drive-In will be able to cast their votes for their favorite drive-in out of a list of over 50 that need help. The Cherry Bowl Drive-In was chosen by Honda to participate and a film crew came to Honor in July to film the venue for the contest website.

Studios are expected to stop making 35 mm films available as soon as the end of 2013, so time is running out for theaters to upgrade their equipment.
